Greg Adler, President & CEO of 4 Wheel Parts, started his racing career in Baja California, Mexico driving limited buggies in the SCORE series. After several years of valuable experience, he jumped into the full-size truck category driving powerful 800-horsepower Class 8 trucks. The Class 8 machines fit Greg well, and made for a smooth transition into the intense world of short-course off-road racing. Greg entered his first short-course race at Crandon International Raceway in 2004 in a Sportsman truck borrowed from veteran racer Evan Evans. That one race was all it took and Greg became hooked.

More than 10 years later K&N Filters sponsored driver Greg Adler is still short-course off-road racing and has worked his way up to the Pro-4 ranks in the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORS). Rounds 5 and 6 of the 2015 LOORS season took place at Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park in Lake Elsinore, California. Temperatures were in the 90’s, but that didn’t stop racers or spectators from flocking to the dry basin near the shores of Southern California’s largest natural freshwater lake. It was a double header weekend for the Lucas Oil Series with round five taking place on Saturday followed by round six the next day.

Greg Adler put together a strong qualifying effort in his K&N air filters equipped Pro-4 Ford F150 earning him a spot on the front row of the grid for Round 5. Following the drop of the green flag the Pro4 field charged into turn one and in the ensuing chaos Adler was shuffled back into the pack of 900HP machines. Once settled into his rhythm, Adler maintained sight of the leaders as he charged his way back into contention. Greg worked his way into fourth place and as he set his sights on a podium finish, Greg found himself battling with another competitor as they soared toward the track’s signature “ski jump.” The two trucks launched side by side through the air and in the process made contact. The contact resulted in a brake issue for Adler’s #10 Pro-4 truck forcing Adler to adjust his pace and settle for a 6th place result.

“We knew we had a lot of work to do after the fifth round,” commented Adler. Adding, “after the contact, we lost the brakes and you don’t have any idea how much you need them until you don’t have them. We had an issue with the transmission so we changed that out overnight as well but we knew that going into Sunday morning we were going to have the truck sorted out.”

Once again having qualified well, Greg Adler started from a second row position on the grid putting him toward the front of one of the most competitive Pro4 fields in recent memory. Holding his ground through the start, Greg pushed his way into third on the track as he worked to catch the leaders. With just a small handful of laps to go late in the race, a yellow flag brought the pack back together for a sprint to the finish. Although he was challenged for his spot through the final laps, Adler held his ground and brought the truck home for his best finish of the 2015 season so far. K&N sponsored Team 4 Wheel Parts found redemption with a hard fought third place trophy and renewed momentum as they make their climb through the Pro4 standings.

“Today was great for the team,” said Adler from the podium. “These guys work so hard to give me a fast truck, now we’re standing up here for not only them, but for everyone who supports us from the crew, to our sponsors and our fans.” For Adler, his strongest showing of the season was a reflection of the combined efforts of the veteran team. “This is the result of hard work from an experienced group of guys who do whatever it takes to get it done,” he said. “We accomplished our goal of qualifying strong and we ran consistent laps all weekend. We were holding strong through the race and the last restart made things interesting, but we were able to put the power down and hold them off. The payoff was a solid finish to the weekend and some momentum going into Utah.”

The 18-round Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series will head to the picturesque Tooele Valley, just outside of Salt Lake City, Utah for Rounds 7 & 8 at Miller Motorsports Park on June 20-21. The 2015 Lucas Oil Off Road calendar includes one more visit to Lake Elsinore this season in addition to California’s Glen Helen Raceway, stops in Reno & Las Vegas, Nevada and for the first time ever, Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico.
